Potential Tourist Attractions

The Tapi District Administration in Gujarat is working on a blueprint to develop areas near Ukai dam, located 94 km away from Surat (in Songadh) as a tourist spot. At present, Saputara, Mahal eco-camp site, Don Hill, Wilson Hill, Tithal beach, Ubhrat beach and Padamdungari are popular tourist spots in South Gujarat.

Songadh is known for its dense forest and bamboo production. Though the area around Ukai dam is prohibited for visitors, there are plans to develop Doswada, Fort Songadh, Navi Ukai and the area surrounding the Ukai dam as eco-camp sites similar to Padamdungari near Vyara and Mahal in Dang.

Songadh is bestowed with some breathtaking natural surroundings. Apart from being a dense forest area, Songadh has an interesting history.  Certain spots like Doswada, which houses the historic dam built by the Gaekwads of the Royal Baroda dynasty, will be developed as an eco-campsite. The tourists visiting Doswada will be provided with shelter in the cottages and served with typical tribal cuisine.
